Resume / CV Builder

Build a clean, professional resume with a live preview and export it to PDF or an editable Word document. Your draft is stored only in your own browser, so nothing is uploaded and no account is required.

Write results, not responsibilities

This single change does more than any formatting decision. "Responsible for quality inspections" describes a job title. "Inspected 400+ items of lifting equipment annually, cutting failed re-inspections by 30% through a revised pre-check procedure" describes a person. A useful pattern is: what you did, how you did it, and what changed as a result. Not every line will have a clean number, and inventing one is worse than having none — but most people underestimate how much of their work is measurable. Volume handled, time saved, errors reduced, people trained, cost avoided.

Formatting that survives automated screening

Applicant tracking systems are widely misunderstood. They are mostly databases, and their common failure is not rejecting good candidates on merit but failing to parse the file at all, so your experience is never recorded. Parsing breaks on text inside images, complex multi-column layouts that get read across instead of down, critical details placed in headers and footers, and tables used for visual layout. The templates here deliberately use a single-column structure with standard fonts and clear section headings for that reason. Both exports produce real selectable text rather than an image, which is the baseline requirement. If you cannot highlight a sentence with your cursor, neither can a screening system.

PDF or Word, and which to send

Send a PDF unless the employer asks otherwise, because it renders identically everywhere. Choose Word when a job portal specifically requires .docx , when a recruiter needs to edit it before passing it on, or when you want to keep refining the wording. One important limitation: the PDF export uses built-in fonts that cover Latin characters only. If your resume contains Bangla, Arabic or CJK text, use the Word export, which handles every script correctly. You can export a PDF from Word afterwards.

Length and what to cut

One page suits early-career applicants; two pages is widely accepted once you have several substantial roles. Beyond that you need a strong reason. Cut first: roles from more than fifteen years ago, duties any holder of the title would have had, and generic claims like "hard working" that carry no information. A full street address is unnecessary — city and country is enough and better for privacy.

Quick tips

Is my personal information uploaded anywhere?

No. The entire builder runs in your browser and nothing is sent to a server. Your draft is stored only in this browser using local storage, so it survives a refresh but is never transmitted. Clearing your browser data or using the Clear button removes it permanently.

Will my draft still be there tomorrow?

Usually yes, on the same browser and device. It is saved locally, so it will not appear on a different computer, in a different browser, or in a private browsing window. Download a copy of anything you cannot afford to lose.

Can I write my resume in Bangla or another non-Latin script?

Use the Word export for this. The PDF export relies on built-in fonts that only cover Latin characters, so Bangla, Arabic, and CJK text will not render correctly. The Word file handles every script properly, and you can export a PDF from Word once you are done.

Is the exported PDF readable by applicant tracking systems?

The PDF contains real selectable text rather than an image, which is the main requirement for automated screening. The layout is also deliberately simple, avoiding the multi-column designs and graphics that commonly confuse these systems.

Should I choose PDF or Word?

Send a PDF unless the employer asks for something else, because it looks identical everywhere. Choose Word when a job portal specifically requires .docx, when a recruiter needs to edit it, or when you want to keep refining the wording later.

How long should a resume be?

One page suits early-career applicants, and two pages is widely accepted once you have several roles worth describing. Focus each bullet point on what you achieved and its result rather than listing duties.
